- : By buying another A1200, you are encouraging AT to stick to their high prices,
- : the net result is that we have seasoned Amigans with 2, or even 4 (maybe more
- : Amigas) and new buyers going straight for the PCs. I support Amigas, I like
- : them, but I will NOT waste my money buying an overpriced item that is of little
- : use/economy to me as it stands.
-
- Well I agree with the price. The A1200+ should be a lot cheaper than the
- proposed price point. But don't forget the Phase 5 PPC boards an A1200
- doesn't have to become totally obsolete after the Power Amiga is released.
- But AmiT has to give us a low enough price on them that we feel that it's
- worth picking one up to tide us over and maybe add a PPC board. IF they
- sell these A1200+s for $700-$800 USD it's not worth it.
-
- : I *am* waiting for the PPC, but if AT can improve the A1200Plus to the point
- : where they essentially have an AGAPlus chipset (HD disk drives, extra sound,
- : DSP?), and an easy upgrade path to PPC with no penalties against buying a
- : similr native PPC machine, then I`ll get one (at the right price).
-
- I doubt you'll see that. The A1200+ will have minimal advancements faster
- CPU, SIMM sockets on the MB, that's about it. Dr.K has even gone as far as
- to say HD floppies are not necessary in his opinion.
-

-
- : AT should know that any cash made from these AGA machines to relieve backlogs
- : and demand will not last long. The technology will not last long, maybe this
- : Xmas, certainly not till Xmas 1997.
-
- I assume that's why the Power Amiga is slated for 1st quarter 1997?
